Umrah Package Costing Sheet for Travel Agents (2026): Price Every Package Right

9 October 2026 · 7 min read

Most Umrah agencies in Pakistan still price packages on a calculator or in an Excel sheet copied from last season. It works until a fare moves, the riyal rate changes or a customer asks for a triple room instead of a quad, and then the margin quietly disappears. This guide gives you a costing method you can repeat for every enquiry, with a full worked example.

Example: the same 10-night package by room sharing (per person)

Room sharingHotels (7 Makkah + 3 Madinah)Total costPrice at 8% markup
Quad (4 per room)Rs 70,500Rs 248,000Rs 267,840
Triple (3 per room)Rs 94,000Rs 271,500Rs 293,220
Double (2 per room)Rs 141,000Rs 318,500Rs 343,980

The seven lines of every Umrah costing

Every package, from economy to five-star, is built from the same lines: 1) return flight per person, 2) Umrah visa and insurance per person, 3) Makkah hotel, 4) Madinah hotel, 5) transport (airport, Makkah to Madinah, and back), 6) ziyarat tours, and 7) your markup or service fee. Write them in this order every time. When a customer asks why the price changed, you can point to the exact line that moved instead of re-doing the whole package.

Hotel cost per person: divide the room, not the person

Hotels charge per room per night, but pilgrims pay per person. So the hotel line is: room rate × nights ÷ people in the room. A Makkah room at SAR 400 a night for 7 nights is SAR 2,800 for the room. In a quad room that is SAR 700 per person; in a double it is SAR 1,400. This is why the same hotel can be the 'budget' option in quad sharing and a 'comfort' option in a double. Always keep separate rates for Double, Triple and Quad, and for each date window, because the same hotel can cost twice as much in Ramadan or December.

Converting riyals to rupees without losing your margin

Use the rate you will actually pay your supplier, not the rate on the news. Keep one exchange rate for the whole office, update it at least weekly, and add a small buffer if you collect the balance weeks before you pay the hotel. If three people quote with three different rates, two of them are giving away margin.

Worked example: 10 nights, quad sharing

Four adults sharing one quad room, 7 nights in Makkah at SAR 400 a room per night, 3 nights in Madinah at SAR 320, SAR 1 = Rs 75. Per person: flight Rs 110,000; visa and insurance Rs 48,000; Makkah hotel SAR 700 = Rs 52,500; Madinah hotel SAR 240 = Rs 18,000; transport SAR 200 = Rs 15,000; ziyarat SAR 60 = Rs 4,500. Cost per person: Rs 248,000. With an 8% markup the selling price is Rs 267,840 per person, which most agencies round to Rs 268,000. The table above shows the same package in triple and double rooms. These are example rates; use your own.

Markup: percentage, fixed fee, or both

A percentage markup earns more on expensive packages and less on budget ones, which matches the work involved in most cases. A fixed fee per person is easier to explain and protects you on cheap visa-only or flight-only sales. Many agencies use both: a percentage on hotels and transport, and a fixed service fee per person. Whatever you choose, apply it the same way on every quote so your sales staff cannot under-price by accident.

Mistakes that eat your profit

1) Quoting a flight fare from last month. 2) Using off-season hotel rates for Ramadan or December dates. 3) Forgetting children and infants, who still need seats, beds or visas. 4) A riyal rate that is weeks old. 5) Free extras, like an additional ziyarat or a late check-out, that never get costed. 6) Collecting the customer's balance after you have already paid the supplier. Each one looks small on a single booking and adds up to a month's salary over a season.

In short

Good Umrah pricing is not about guessing the market; it is about costing the same seven lines the same way every time, dividing hotel rooms correctly, and using one current riyal rate. Do that and every quote protects your margin, whether it comes from you or from a new member of staff.

Questions

What markup do Umrah agencies usually add?

It varies by agency and season. Many use a percentage on land services plus a fixed service fee per person. Pick a rule you can apply to every quote and review it each season against your real profit after expenses.

Should I quote per person or per room?

Pilgrims compare per-person prices, so quote per person and state the room sharing clearly (Double, Triple or Quad). Show the family total as well so there is no confusion at payment.

How often should I update my hotel and flight rates?

Flight fares can change daily, so check them before every quote. Hotel rates should be stored by date window so Ramadan, December and off-season prices never mix.
